ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Florida Congressman Ric Keller will meet with more local law enforcement this evening.

Last night, Keller participated in a "ride along" with Orange County deputies to get a look at high crime areas.

This is all part of state program to put more cops on central Florida streets.

Just earlier this morning a Kangaroo Express convenience store was robbed by two men on Magnolia Holmes Road.

It is crimes like this one that Keller believes could be lessened with more law enforcement patrolling our streets.

He spoke to FOX 35 about his plans for central Florida: ” First we can re-authorize the cops program that's already put 774 police officers on the streets in central Florida. Second, I've got the attorney general to send an ATF unit to help with the firearms related crime, and third we've got the FBI to send a safe streets team here to specifically address the hotspots and violent crime increases."

Keller says he will also take what he has learned from these "ride alongs" with him back to Washington, DC to continue to push for more funding for central Florida streets.
